Farali Pattice Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 5 large potatoes
  • 5 tbsp arrowroot flour or water chestnut flour
  • Rock salt (Sendha Namak) as per taste
  • Puvi Cold Pressed Groundnut Oil for frying

For Stuffing:

  • ½ cup finely grated coconut
  • 3 tbsp peanuts, roasted and coarsely crushed
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 to 2.5 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 small green chili finely chopped
  • Rock salt (Sendha Namak) as per taste

 

​PREPARATION:

  • Boil the potatoes in pressure cooker till they are tender. 
  • Peel and take the potatoes in a mixing bowl. Mash the potatoes and allow the mashed potatoes to cool at room temperature.
  • Add arrowroot flour or Water chestnut flour and rock salt. Mix the arrowroot flour well with the mashed potatoes and lightly knead the mixture.
  • Cover and keep aside the potato dough.

Stuffing Preparation:

  • In another mixing bowl, take the grated coconut.
  • Add the crushed roasted peanuts.
  • Then add sugar, lemon juice, chopped coriander leaves and green chilies. 
  • Stir and mix this stuffing mixture very well.

Making Farali Pattice:

  • Make medium-sized balls from the potato dough mixture.

  • Apply some Groundnut oil to your hands, take each potato ball and flatten it.
  • Place 1 or 2 tbsp of the prepared stuffing.
  • Bring the edges towards the center and gently seal the edges well. Flatten the pattice slightly. 
  • Prepare all the Farali Pattice this way. 
  • Heat some Puvi Cold Pressed Groundnut oil for frying in a Pan. 
  • Coat the pattice with arrowroot flour. Dust off the excess flour from the pattice. 
  • Place the coated pattice in medium hot oil for pan frying. 
  • When one side is partly cooked and light golden, gently flip over with a spatula.
  • Fry these farali pattice till they are golden and crisp from both sides.
  • Drain them on kitchen paper towels to absorb extra oil.
  • Serve Farali Pattice hot with sweetened curd.
